Globalization of business, the emergency and the strategic use of information technology, and the growth of the global communications (such as Internet) have recast the role of information systems in business and management. Now, successful and strategic use of information systems within a business enterprise is often regarded as a matter of "life and death" to that enterprise.

This course provides an understanding and appreciation for the use of information technology to successfully manage an enterprise. The major objective of the course is learning competitive role of information systems, which contributes to the overall success of the business through an effective integration of business strategies, information technology and people.

While most of the other management information systems (MIS) courses substantially focus on the technology side, this course is provided not for understanding of technology per se, but for how to use information systems/information technology for strategic advantage for a firm. The course largely focuses on strategic perspective of MIS.
