The course will be directed towards systematically understanding theunderlying principles of ironmaking by focusing on the basicinteractions between various components and phases. The class will alsodrive the students to adapt themselves to the real ironmaking processesby making them understanding the ways and means of increasing blastfurnace productivity, which depends upon the fuel efficiency and flow ofmaterials and gases through the dry and wet zones of the furnace. Thecourse is also required to be aware of the important treatment of rawiron ores and coals, which is one of the hot issues in the field ofironmaking since the efficient pretreatment of raw materials dominantlyoccupies the competitiveness of the entire steel production process.
