3. Course Objectives

물질의 물성치 특성과 일과 열의 발생 및 전달의 기본적 원리를 학습하고, 이를 응용하는 실용적 장치 및 효율 증대 기법들을 배운다.
Thermomechanical properties of various substances are studied based on a macroscopic view, and they are applied to the transfer/generation of work and heat with emphasis on the design of systems and techniques of efficient conversion.

9. Course Operation

Every week, lecture video files will be uploaded to PLMS. Students are supposed to learn the lecture by watching the video files and to check/consolidate their understanding by solving homework problems.
Lecture slides and homework assignments will be uploaded or distributed weekly (or biweekly).
Solving homework assignments will lead students to prepare themselves for the final examination.
Although lecture slides are often sufficient to cover the subjects of the course, students are encouraged to read the textbook to consolidate the lecture material. (Textbook is an excellent companion to the lecture slides.)
There will be a practice session for each student to take and analyze data from a model thermodynamic application system.

10. How to Teach & Remark

무은재학부 및 기계공학 전공 학생 수강과목이나, 타 과 학생들도 수강할 수 있음
Students are expected to spend outside the class at least an hour reviewing what they learned and will learn, in addition to approximately two or three hours doing homework.
Many students find it helpful to form study groups to discuss homework assignments (no copy from one another, though), which is encouraged.
