3. Course Objectives

Postechian Core Capabilities: Global Citizen Capability (100%)
One of the goals of this course is to improve students' understanding and ability to participate as global citizens by achieving a strong command of English and its culture, both of which are necessary to engage the world.
1) To teach students effective strategies in preparing and giving strong oral presentations, and to help students avoid common errors
2) To improve the students’ abilities to present ideas clearly and effectively in English by developing correct pronunciation, grammar, syntax, organization and personal style
3) To improve the students’ confidence in critiquing presentations
4) Excellent Storytelling!

4. Prerequisites & require

Graduate student in the CSE PhD program

5. Grading

S/U - To obtain an S, students must complete all their presentations and evaluations, and obtain an average of at least 90%.

Presentations:
5-Slide or Poster: 10%
First oral 10%
Second oral 20%
*Third oral 25%

*The number and weight of the presentations will be influenced and adjusted according to class size and time. Therefore, if time does not permit a third presentation, its value will be distributed over the
other criteria in the grading scheme.

Participation (25%)
Critiques: Form & self-critique 10%
Group discussion & leadership: 15%

Attendance: 10%
• 2% will be deducted for each unexcused absence.
• 4 unexcused absences will result in a grade of F.
