This course is the second of a two-course sequence regarding operations management and focuses more on supply chain management (SCM). The importance of SCM is rising. Students will learn the basics of SCM and investigate the possible applications to the steel industry. The topics include the basic concept of SCM, designing the network, planning and coordinating demand and supply, inventory management, transportation networks, and sustainability. 3 credit hours.

- No prerequisite courses
- Basic mathematic skills, statistics, Excel skills are expected.

Students are encouraged to actively participate in class discussions. There will be two exams in the semester. Make-up exam will be given only under extraordinary circumstances. If a student is unable to take the exam on the scheduled date for extenuating reason(s), s/he must notify the instructor before the exam. Small term project is required. Grading details are provided below.

Assignments:
• There will be approximately five assignments.
• Unless otherwise noted, each student must submit their own copy of every assignment.
• To ensure fairness to all students, late submissions will not be accepted.

Term Project:
• The term project requires the application of Operations Management (OM) techniques to a problem of the student's choice. Selecting an interesting problem from your duties is recommended.
• The main focus is defining the problem and data collection.
• The term project is an individual assignment.

Academic dishonesty

Exam:
o Although exams are basically non-cumulative exams, there may be some overlap in exam coverage.
o Exam dates are tentatively planned as follows:
 Mid-term: Week 8
 Final Exam: Week 16

Video Review:
There are three groups of videos and each group consists of 1-2 videos.
You will submit a review report (Times New Roman 10 pt) for every group through the PLMS.
The number of letters (including spaces) is expected to be 4000 - 5500.
You need to create your own “title” for each review to incorporate all videos in a group.
The report should include your info. (Student No. + name)
The review should have two parts:
- Part I: One summary of all the videos in the group
- Part 2: Discussion about them: Your analysis (e.g., comparison & contrast) and your opinion (implications). You can also find additional information from other sources for the discussion.
