3. 강의목표

What is the science fiction (SF) movie? How did SF movies and development of science and technology influence each other during the twentieth century? What is the use of SF movies for societies? And why are SF movies much more popular in some countries than in others? By watching and analyzing classic and contemporary SF movies from the US, the Soviet Union, Japan, China, and South Korea, we will search for answers to these questions. Special emphasis will be given to analyzing how historical, political, and cultural environments in different countries have influenced the production and acceptance of SF movies.

10. 학습법 소개 및 기타사항

This course expects students to use and develop their analytical skills in watching movies, writing, and discussion.
Students must watch weekly assigned movies, present their weekly essays (just one paragraph, no longer than 12 lines) before the class begins, and participate in the discussion enthusiastically.
They will present their final projects (3- minute video clip) in the last class, and be criticized (or praised) by their fellow students.
