9. 수업운영
1. Students will study persuasion topics (see the course schedule) grounded in social scientific research methods, primarily lab and field experiments involving human subjects. The course also reviews empirical studies that have tested various persuasion theories, with attention to how the "conclusions" drawn on different persuasion topics were actually arrived at. This course will be particularly useful for students interested in conducting usability tests with human subjects in the future.
2. Students will examine actual experimental studies on persuasion and practice critically engaging with their underlying assumptions, theoretical logic, methodology, and alternative interpretations of the findings.
3. This course will differ from what students might expect if they assume it covers the kind of self-help books on persuasion commonly found in bookstores (e.g., "secrets" or "tricks" of persuasion). Students should keep in mind that this course approaches persuasion from a scientific and ethical standpoint.
4. Persuasion is distinct from manipulation, propaganda, inducement, and coercion. This course focuses on persuasion grounded in an ethical approach.
5. The course consists of the instructor's lectures, quizzes, group presentations by students, discussions, and occasional in-class worksheets.
10. 학습법 소개 및 기타사항
- Instructor's lectures + real-world examples + Q&A session
- Actively applying course concepts to the writing assignment (individual work)
- Creatively applying course concepts to design a brief campaign (group work)
** 기존 '설득의 전략과 태도변화' 에서 급변하는 커뮤니케이션 환경을 반영하여 강좌명을 변경했습니다.
