1. 교과목 개요(Course Description)
본 과목은 외국인 대학원생을 대상으로 한 한국어 및 한국 문화 입문 과목으로, 한국에서의 학업 수행과 연구 활동, 그리고 대학 생활 적응에 필요한 기초 한국어 능력과 문화 이해를 함양하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 본 과목에서는 다음의 교재를 사용한다.

수업은 한글의 자음과 모음 학습을 시작으로 자기소개, 인사, 숫자, 시간 표현 등 일상생활과 대학 생활에서 자주 사용되는 기초 한국어 표현을 학습하는 것을 목표로 한다. 특히 연구실 생활, 행정 업무, 교내 시설 이용 등 대학원생들이 실제로 경험하게 되는 상황과 연계하여 한국어 의사소통 능력을 기를 수 있도록 구성한다.
또한 문법, 듣기, 읽기, 말하기 활동을 유기적이고 균형 있게 학습하며, 초급 학습자의 부담을 고려하여 쓰기 활동은 짧은 메모, 간단한 자기소개, 기초적인 정보 작성 수준으로 운영한다. 발음 시범, 반복 연습, 짝 활동 및 소규모 의사소통 활동 등 학습자 참여 중심의 교수법을 활용하여 학습자들이 쉽고 효과적으로 한국어를 습득할 수 있도록 돕는다.
아울러 매 주차마다 예절, 음식, 가족 문화, 대학 문화, 연구실 문화 등 한국 사회와 대학 생활에 대한 문화적 이해를 함께 다루어 언어와 문화를 통합적으로 이해할 수 있도록 한다. 이를 통해 학습자들이 한국 대학원 생활과 한국 사회에 보다 원활하게 적응하고, 학문 공동체의 구성원으로서 적극적으로 참여할 수 있는 기초 역량을 함양하도록 한다.
Foundations of Korean Language and Culture 1 is an introductory course designed for international graduate students. The course aims to develop basic Korean language proficiency and cultural understanding necessary for academic study, research activities, and successful adaptation to university life in Korea. The following textbooks are used:

Beginning with the study of Hangul consonants and vowels, students will learn basic Korean expressions frequently used in daily life and university settings, including self-introductions, greetings, numbers, and time expressions. Particular emphasis is placed on communication skills needed in graduate student life, such as interacting in laboratories, handling administrative matters, and utilizing campus facilities.
The course integrates grammar, listening, reading, and speaking activities in a balanced and connected manner. Writing activities are limited to short memos, simple self-introductions, and basic information-writing tasks in consideration of beginner learners. Student-centered teaching methods, including pronunciation demonstrations, repetition drills, pair work, and communicative activities, will be employed to help students learn Korean effectively and confidently.
In addition, each week introduces aspects of Korean culture and society, including etiquette, food culture, family culture, university culture, and laboratory culture. Through an integrated approach to language and culture, students will develop a deeper understanding of Korean society and academic life. The course is designed to support international graduate students in adapting successfully to Korean universities and participating actively in academic and research communities.

1. 강의 계획
·학기 중 학생들의 학습 수준과 진행 상황에 따라 강의 계획은 사전 공지 후 일부 조정될 수 있습니다.

2.성적 평가 방식
·본 수업은 S/U 평가 방식으로 운영되며, S(Satisfactory) 성적은 총점 90점 이상일 경우 부여됩니다.

3. 과제 제출 및 표절 기준
·다른 학생의 글이나 인터넷 자료를 도용한 과제는 모두 0점 처리되며, 마감 시간을 지나 제출된 과제는 인정되지 않습니다.

4. 출석 기준
·총 6회 이상 결석 시 자동으로 U 성적이 부여됩니다.
·학회, 세미나 등으로 인한 결석은 사전 연락과 증빙서류 제출 시 최대 4회까지 공결로 인정됩니다.
·가족의 긴급 상황이나 병원 입원 등의 경우는 담당 교강사의 재량에 따라 공결 여부가 결정됩니다.

5. 지각 및 수업 태도
·15분 미만 지각 또는 수업 중 수면 시 최종 성적에서 1% 감점
·15분 이상 지각은 결석으로 간주되며, 정당한 사유가 없을 경우 3% 감점

1. Course Plan
· The course schedule may be adjusted during the semester depending on students' proficiency and class progress. Any changes will be announced in advance.

2. Grading Policy
· This course uses the S/U grading system. A grade of S (Satisfactory) is awarded only when the final score is 90 points or higher.

3. Assignment Submission & Plagiarism Policy
· Any assignment that plagiarizes another student’s work or copies from online sources will receive a score of 0.
· Late submissions will not be accepted under any circumstances.

4. Attendance Policy
· Students who accumulate 6 or more absences will automatically receive a U (Unsatisfactory) grade.
· Up to 4 absences for academic events such as conferences or seminars may be excused with prior notice and valid documentation.
· Absences due to family emergencies or hospitalization are subject to the instructor’s discretion.

5. Tardiness and Classroom Behavior
· Being late by less than 15 minutes or sleeping during class results in a 1% deduction from the final grade.
· Being late by 15 minutes or more is considered an absence and results in a 3% deduction unless a valid reason is provided.
