1학년 무학과 학생들이 신소재공학과에서 진행되는 연구에 참여하거나 관심있는 연구실에서 활동을 함으로써, 신소재공학에 대한 이해를 넓히고 연구활동을 경험할 수 있도록 한다.
This course aims to help first-year undeclared students broaden their understanding of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) and gain hands-on research experience by participating in departmental research projects or engaging in a research laboratory of their interest within the MSE Department.

학생과 탐방 연구실의 교수가 합의하여 진행함.
The course is conducted based on mutual agreement between the student and the faculty member of the host (visited) laboratory.

- 신소재공학과의 모든 연구실이 연구참여 가능함.
- 연구참여를 수강하는 학생들에게 좀 더 정확한 정보를 주기 위해, 과목담당교수가 학기중에 수강하는 학생과 면담을 하여, 수강 학생이 원하는 분야의 교수님을 연결시켜 주는 과정을 거침.
- 학생이 원하는 분야에 맞춰 연구 주제를 디자인해 주는 것을 원칙으로 함.
- All laboratories in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering are available for research participation.
- To provide more accurate guidance, the course instructor will meet with enrolled students during the semester and connect them with faculty members in the students’ fields of interest.
- In principle, research topics will be designed to align with each student’s interests.

* 첫 수업은 둘째 주 화요일 오전 8시 공학1동 118호에서 진행될 예정입니다. (첫 주 휴강) 6주 동안 매주 화요일 오전 8시에 간단한 학과 소개가 진행되고 이후 담당 조교를 배정하여 연구실 활동에 참여하게 됩니다. 자세한 사항은 이메일 및 PLMS를 통해 공지하겠습니다.
The first class will be held at 8:00 AM on Tuesday of the second week in Room 118, Engineering Building 1. (No class during the first week.)
For six weeks, a brief introduction to the department will be provided every Tuesday at 8:00 AM. After that, each student will be assigned a teaching assistant (TA) and will begin participating in laboratory activities.

- 연구 참여 시간표는 따로 없으며, 참여하는 연구실과 수강 학생이 논의하여 자율적으로 조절함.
- 학생의 관심분야에서 대학원생들은 어떻게 연구를 진행하며 어떠한 방식으로 상호 토의를 하는지, 교수님과의 연구 주제 등에 대한 심도있는 연구를 진행할 수 도 있으며, 연구실의 활동 (세미나, 연구 토의, 발표) 전반에 대한 경험 위주로 진행할 수 도 있음.
- There is no fixed timetable for research participation; schedules are arranged flexibly through discussion between the student and the host laboratory.

In-depth exploration of how graduate students conduct research and how research discussions are carried out
Deeper study of research topics in collaboration with the supervising professor
Experience-centered participation in overall lab activities (e.g., seminars, research meetings, presentations)
