3. 강의목표

User experience (UX) is gaining huge interest and UX skills are increasingly in demand. UX designers are now recognized as a key role in growing number of companies. This course was designed as an introductory course to UX design. It aims to give students an opportunity to go through the whole design process and methodology so that they can apply the learned disciplines to a variety of application domains.

This course consists of three parts. Part 1 covers what user experience means as well as an overview of the design process. The concept of device/service ecosystem and the lean UX approach will also be introduced. Part 2 explains the details on the ‘how-to’ of each step in the process, from user research, strategy, design, prototyping, to testing. In Part 3, practitioners from a variety of industry will be invited as guest lecturers and asked to share their experiences. Lab. sessions and a term project are essential to facilitating more effective learning. The students are asked to suggest a team project topic and make a proposal by Week4, to which they will apply what they have learned during the class and discuss on the progress or issues related to the project during the lab session. They can either choose an existing system with poor usability and improve it or create a brand-new concept product. Class presentations on the term project will be made in Week15. In the long term, the students may be encouraged to collaborate with companies or with the local community so that they can experience how UX design efforts can change the world.
