3. 강의목표

-To gain understanding how lattice and spin degrees of freedom contribute to physical properties of solid state systems.
-To be exposed to how the group theory is used to exploit symmetry of the system to solve problems efficiently.

-We will study lattice dynamics mostly following the text book Ch. 21-26
-Then, we will cover basic magnetism mostly following the text book Ch. 31-33
-Time permitting, we will also discuss elementary group theory for solid state physicists.
