3. 강의목표

This course provides an introduction to fluid dynamics, the study offluids (liquids and gasses) at rest or in motion and the effects of the fluid on its boundaries (solid surfaces or other liquids). The basic conservation laws of fluid mechanics and their applications to various problems using the control volume concept will be covered. Differential equations which describe the fluid motion under external stress will be derived from the conservation laws. Also three sets of pre-designed experiments will be prepared for the students. Objectives of this course are : 1) learn to estimate the hydrostatic force acting on objects in a fluid at rest and in motion, 2) learn to use control volume analysis to develop basic equations and to solve problems, 3) learn to use dimensional analysis for designing physical or numerical experiments and to apply dynamic similarity, 4) understand flow characterisitvs of various internal and external flows.

5. 성적평가

Home work : 20%,
Mid-Term examinations I : 30%
Final examination : 30%
Report of two experiments : 10%
Attendance will be strictly checked : 10%
(3 late attendances will be counted as one absence)
