3. 강의목표

The course type: individual presentation (25 min max)/discussion & 1:1 slide-by-slide tutoring session.
This course specifically aims to (1) practice how to identify the research trends of modern chemistry by navigating topical journals and being assured by the database (e.g. web of science), and (2) to develop methods excavating the trend research topics using available database, and (3) to share such information by giving presentations. The goal of the course also helps to develop the skill of collecting and analyzing information, writing abstracts, and of critical reading of the experimental literature as well as presentation skill. This includes how to search the critical articles from several academic search tools (e.g. web of science, SCIFINDER, SCOPUS, etc. including web-searched materials) to identify the research trend of a specific field of your interest, and how to present and discuss the information you collected effectively in your presentation. This course also aims to
- Improve oral presentation skills for better communication with other researchers
- Improve abstract writing
Improve information organization skills
This course provides 1:1 slide-by-slide tutoring session at the end of presentation where you will recieve specific details/suggestions to improve your slides.

1. Current trend in Organic chemistry
2. Current trend in Inorganic chemistry
3. Current trend in Physical chemistry
4. Current trend in Analytical chemistry
5. Current trend in Materials chemistry
6. Current trend in Polymer chemistry
7. Current trend in Bio/medicinal chemistry
8. Current trend in Theoretical/calculation chemistry/physics (or Science)

4. 강의선수/수강필수사항

No freshman graduate students are allowed : Enrollment at least one semester of graduate school is required.

5. 성적평가

Attendance: 20%
Abstract: 10%
Presentation: 70%
Everyone except speakers will grade. For this, you need to download the grading sheet from the PLMS site, and send the graded sheet to TA by 5pm on the same day of issue.

8. 강의진도계획

Each student is supposed to give one presentation in English on the current research trend of the discipline that the student chose.
Presenting his/her or lab research topics as major content is strictly forbidden.
When the presenter is disqualified due to the violation of the rules (such as cheating, or presenting his/her own works only), another opportunity may be given.

9. 수업운영

Every student is supposed to upload an abstract approved by Prof. Choi to PLMS and to give a 20 min presentation followed by 1: 1 tutoring session with Prof. Choi

10. 학습법 소개 및 기타사항

The key aspect of this class is to identify the most popular (trendy) research topics in the chemistry discipline you chose and introduce them in your presentation.
So, You are highly recommended to develop methods to excavate those topics.
