본 과목은 경제학에서 다루어지는 기본적인 개념을 세부적으로 검토하고 경제학의 기본원리와 시장 자본주의가 갖고 있는 과학성에 대한 문제와 사회적인 연관성을 살펴보게 될 것이다. 본 과목은 경제활동에 대한 정치학적이고 사회학적, 문화학적 그리고 인류학적인 접근이다. 경제학에서 현재 당연시 여기고 있는 개념과 현상 및 실제적인 사례에 대해서 사회/정치/문화/인류학적인 탐구를 통해서 어떻게 경제학적 개념이 형성되었으며, 어떻게 수행되고 있는가에 대해서 고찰하게 될 것이다. 특히, 경제학에서 다루고 있는 개념과 이론이 갖고 있는 고정적인 것으로 전제하고 심층적인 사회과학적 분석에서 제외되어온 문제를 역사화, 상대화 및 맥락화를 통해 문제를 해결할 것이다.
